the flowers of thanksgiving

These are my wonderful flowers for Thanksgiving!! They were so beautiful that I had to share them! My friend David at More Flowers put them together. Thank you, David -- send him a little good energy. These were the only photos that I took on Thanksgiving, but suffice it to say, it was a nice day filled with friends, food and so many reasons to give thanks!

holiday help, please . . .

Okay, I am looking for a little help! I was going to knit the twisted rib hat for all my employees this year, in addition to their bonus. It is the pink/orange and blue hats in the photo. Now I am starting to second guess myself. I have enough Blue Sky Alpaca to knit each one a hat - twisted rib or otherwise. So here are the two options
1. each one gets a twisted rib hat in a different color
2. there are two or three hat pattern all hats knit in different colors

These are what I have been doing . . .

It is getting to that holiday prezzie time of the year and I have now finished my one big holiday gift! It is the Ombre Blanket from Last Minute Knitted Gifts -- all though this is not one that I would recommend leaving for the last minute!
I do love it, I hope that Lou really loves it! It certainly will keep her warm on those cold nebraska nights!

Here are Bill's gloves that now have cool embroidery on them - I really like them, so I am posting them everywhere :)

Finally we have the first pair of completely finished holiday knucks. There are a few more to come - the next pair that I have to start are creme with sparkly gold yarn - kinda dreading that . . . But as long as they are worn and appreciated, I suppose its not up to me . . .

The land of the hat!!

So we went to Virginia this weekend to visit with Jules, James and the girls (photos from that on DenverKnits) and it was a hat knitting fest! I got 5 done and Bill's knucks embroidered. I am really loving making the twisted ribbed hats, but I think that not everyone probably wants one of those for christmas, so I downloaded some hat patterns this morning, to mix it up with some cabled hats or something . . . I am now done with 3 of my 7 must-do christmas gifts, so it looks like I may have time to make more. There are two more that are SOOOO close, they will definately be posted by the end of the week. And I am thinking of changing some of the knucks to fetching, just to give me a little change in patterns . . . we shall see . . .right now it is just the land of the hat . . .

(Actually, they kinda mix knitting and crocheting, but its a start) I thought the video was fun to watch, so I am putting the link on my blog here! It is fun who else is knitting unconventially. hats and knucks

Soooo, there hasn't been much posting on this blog lately. As I start to have more time, I will start really switching over. Of course, now that I have really figured out blogger - its time to switch to blogger beta, figures!

This year there are going to be lots of knitted gifts! I have concentrating mostly on hats and knucks with a scarf or two on reserve. These two hats are actually my errand running projects for the last two weeks. Obviously, I am spending too much time at the bank, post office and grocery store. They are both Lornas Laces shepards worsted - black purl and camoflage. These I will sell in my store, so they did not get posted on my other blog, since I lie and tell people that I do not make the hats! This is still the kinda secret blog!

These are the holiday knucks taking shape! The black ones are lorna's laces shepards worsted charcoal. I love how they turned out. I dropped two needle sizes for the cuffs, so the would not be so baggy and it really worked great! The tan are inca alpaca and they have been tough. No give. I made them a size too big accedently - but it turned out to be their saving grace, since they would have been way to small otherwise! No more solid alpaca knucks - not enough give in the yarn, but boy are they soft!! Oh well!
